Chess.com announced the details and dates for the Speed Chess Championship XI. The first stage of the Championship will run from November 16 to February 7, 2027. The tournament will feature 16 international players.

The event will feature a 16-player Knockout. Every game will feature a Match clock system with Blitz and Bullet games. Players will play 90 minutes of 5+1, 60 minutes of 3+1, and 30 minutes of 1+1. The event will feature a $250,000 prize fund.

Players will play up to the Semifinals in the first stage of the tournament. The Final of the Speed Chess Championship XI will take place from February 5 to 7 in London, UK. Four players will make it to the Final of the event.

The Speed Chess Championship is a premier online/live hybrid tournament organized by Chess.com. This event follows the 2025-2026 edition held online/in London. Magnus Carlsen defeated Alireza Firouzja in the Final with a score of 15-12. The Speed Chess Championship XI is the first tournament of the Esports World Cup 2027 qualifying cycle.
