“[Question: Do you know why Wadim Rosenstein disconnected from the debate?]

He doesn’t like to participate in public discussion, if I understood correctly, which is more or less typical in the chess world, frankly. Because a lot of people just don’t like much public events. That’s my guess about it.

But I still believe that this debate maybe was not the most interesting in my life, but it helped me much to better discover Jan Henric Buettner, for example. And it was a good experience to listen to him more and to discuss and counter arguments, some features. I think it still was helpful. We definitely have a lot of questions to discuss, to compare our vision to different stuff, and see how we can handle different questions.

In my opinion, it will be much more beneficial for him to participate rather than not to participate in this debate. And maybe we will still have a chance for some public discussion, maybe during the FIDE assembly. So, I will still take this chance for open discussion, because frankly, this one-on-one discussion with each delegate is a great strategy, but I also want to get to know him better and better understand his vision on different questions, which I still don’t frankly have.

I think for a politician it’s necessary to go to all these media events and be ready to answer any questions, because it’s a public politics. To be the head of FIDE, you have to be open, you have to handle different, even difficult, questions.

So, if that will be possible, Wadim, please come to debate! We need you. We’ll need to learn more about the potential candidate for presidency. And I also talking that as a president of national federation, as a delegate.”
