Timur Turlov shared his opinion on his team’s chances of winning the 2026 FIDE Presidential election in an interview with Bestnews.kz. Turlov believes his team has a more than 50% chance of winning, and describes their election campaign.

“I think our team has every chance of winning. And I would estimate it as significantly more than 50% at the current moment.

We are running an active election campaign, and I am confident that this is a unique opportunity that our country should seize precisely to bring our knowledge, skills, and everything we have achieved in digitalization, everything we have achieved in organizing events, including to the global arena.”

The FIDE President election 2026 will take place at the General Assembly in Samarkand, Uzbekistan from September 26 to 27. Timur Turlov is a Russian-born Kazakh entrepreneur and CEO of Freedom Holding Corp. Turlov has served as the president of the Kazakhstan Chess Federation since January 2023.
