Argentinian GM Faustino Oro spoke about his goals for his chess career in an interview with ChessBase India. Faustino says he has talent, explains the importance of hard work, and mentions his dream of becoming World Champion.

“Obviously, I have talent, but just talent doesn’t get you anywhere. You can become a good player, but not a world champion. That requires a lot of work: I train five to six hours every day! Talent alone won’t get you far…

Right now, my goal is to keep playing and reach a rating of 2600. My dream is to become World Champion, although the journey is still long.”

12-year-old Faustino Oro became the second-youngest GM in history on May 10. Faustino holds all records as the youngest player to reach 2500 in Classical, Rapid, and Blitz. He became the youngest IM in history at the age of 10 in 2024.
