Chess.com has announced a live FIDE Presidential Debate. The event will feature Wadim Rosenstein, Jan Henric Buettner, and Timur Turlov. The debate will take place on September 9.
The event will discuss the candidates’ visions for the future of international chess. Candidates will answer selected questions from Chess.com users. Users can leave their questions in the comments under the official announcement. Prominent commentator Maurice Ashley will host the event.
The FIDE President election 2026 will take place at the General Assembly in Samarkand, Uzbekistan from September 26 to 27. WR Chess CEO Wadim Rosenstein, Freestyle Chess CEO Jan Henric Buettner, and Kazakh entrepreneur Timur Turlov were accepted by FIDE for participation in the election.
