WR Chess CEO Wadim Rosenstein announced that the Asian part of the Women’s Chess Tour 2026 will take place in Tokyo, Japan. The event will run from June 6-7.

The event will feature 4 invited players, the Top-3 rated players from Asia, and a winner of the online qualifier. Details about the qualifier will be announced later. The tournament will be sponsored by 40+ Japanese companies including Toyota, Sony, Panasonic, Nintendo, Rakuten, Honda, Nissan, and others.

The WR Chess Women’s Tour 2026 will take place across 5 locations, including Asia, Americas, Africa and Europe, from June 5 to the end of 2026. There are a total of 19 registered women chess players in Japan, and Azumi Sakai (1843) is ranked number one.
