“I have done a huge amount of work with Roman Vidonyak. And since we started working together, I have become a much stronger player. We work a lot, including on psychology. He is a very good and strong coach, and our goal is for me to become one of the best players in the world. Thanks to him, I became a true professional chess player!

Before I started working with Roman, I was already a very strong player, but probably did not fully believe in myself. Roman always believed in me, and that gave me confidence. When your coach believes that you are one of the best — you start to believe it yourself.

I had never worked with Roman before, but right from my first Freestyle tournament in February last year, I started beating Magnus, I beat Nakamura. That showed my skills, my level.

After that, Roman told me: ‘You will come back even stronger for the next tournaments’. And after that, I worked a lot, won the World Cup and the Candidates Tournament.”

German IM Roman Vidonyak is a highly regarded FIDE Senior Trainer known for coaching elite players for over 20 years. Roman and Uzbek GM Javokhir Sindarov started working together in January 2025. During their cooperation, Sindarov crossed the 2700 rating mark, reached the Top 5 in the world rankings, and won the FIDE World Chess Cup 2025 and the FIDE Candidates Tournament 2026.
