Javokhir Sindarov returned to Uzbekistan from the FIDE Candidates Tournament 2026 on April 17. A ceremony honoring Sindarov was held with the participation of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Sindarov was awarded the Order of Labor Glory at the event. The order was awarded for his significant contributions to the popularization of chess in the country and for his record-breaking result and early victory at the Candidates Tournament. President Mirziyoyev personally presented the award to Javokhir.

The FIDE Candidates Tournament 2026 took place from March 28 to April 15, at the Cap St Georges Hotel and Resort in Pegeia, Cyprus. Uzbek GM Javokhir Sindarov won the tournament 1 round ahead and became a candidate for the World Championship title. The Order of Labor Glory is a high state award given to citizens of Uzbekistan for outstanding labor achievements, established in 1995.
