Hikaru Nakamura shared his opinion on Hans Moke Niemann’s playstyle. Nakamura believes that Niemann does not respect his opponents, and states that Hans does not like to make draws.

“I mentioned this in my recent video… It felt to me that Hans, for whatever reason, in recent times, is unhappy with draws.

If he has a worse position, he will not take a draw. He will play and hope that his opponent will make a mistake. Whether you want to call it arrogance or what not, it’s very clear to me that he does not respect his opponents. He does not make draws when he should.

Maybe he figures that if he loses, there’s no harm, no foul. And if he wins the game, he’ll be able to put out some tweet and act all heroic and everything else.

But there are times when you simply have to let the chess speak for itself and not lose your mind.”

Nakamura commented on Niemann in his review of their game at the August 4th Titled Tuesday. By move 35, the Grandmasters reached a position where a draw was highly likely. On move 36, Hans made a Mistake with an incorrect Knight move. Hikaru took advantage of the opportunity and defeated Hans 8 moves later. Nakamura finished 3rd in the event, and Niemann finished 8th.
