Denis Lazavik
Belarus' No. 1“[Question: How did you feel about defeating Nakamura at EWC?]
Well, I knew I would beat him. I have already played him. He doesn’t know how to play at all! No jokes.
His style has so many weaknesses that are clear how to use. His opening often limps, his positional play too. Moreover, I already beat him in London.
So, I was simply sure that I dominate on all fronts. There was not a single match where I was so sure.”
The Esports World Cup 2026 took place from August 11 to 15 in Paris, France. Denis Lazavik defeated Hikaru Nakamura in the semifinal with a score of 3.5-1.5. Lazavik lost to Magnus Carlsen in the final with a score of 0-2. Denis earned $190,000 for second place in the event.
