Nigel Short commented on Levy Rozman’s statement that he will not become a GM. Nigel says that Levy is neither weak nor old for achieving this goal. Short notes that the shallowness of Rozman’s thinking holds back his chess progress.

“I read a comment by Levy Rozman that he feared he may never become a GM.

Well, he is neither too old — as he suggested — nor too weak. As a successful entertainer, he does, however, churn out a vast amount of superficial material.

And while it may be perfectly pitched for his audience, the shallowness of thought inculcated by this diurnal drudgery is likely a serious impediment to his chessic advancement.”

American IM Levy Rozman is the creator of the GothamChess YouTube channel. His channel has more than 8.2 million subscribers. Rozman said that it is difficult for him to play against young players in an interview with El Mundo. Levy believes that he will never become a Grandmaster.
