The 49th World Chess Solving Championship concluded in Magdeburg, Germany. Russian FM Danila Pavlov won the individual part of the event with a perfect score of 90/90. Germany won gold in the team part of the event.
Pavlov overtook 9-time World Chess Solving Champion Piotr Murdzia. Murdzia took second place with 86 points. Team Germany won their first team title since 2002, defeating team Poland on tiebreak.
The World Chess Solving Championship is an annual event for individuals and national teams. In the competition, players solve composed chess problems and studies within a limited time. Points are awarded for fully correct solutions, with bonus points given for speed. The event has been held since 1977 and is organized by the World Federation for Chess Composition.
