“Javokhir is one of my closest friends, without a doubt. And, of course, in the match I will provide him with all the help I can. We have already talked about this and have been in contact.

And I think that if an Uzbek player appears who is the first to bring the World Championship crown to Uzbekistan, that would be an extremely great achievement for the country. This will be a great motivation not only for chess, but for many other areas as well.

I would like that many fans and people around the world, representatives of various professions and fields, seeing our successes, perceive Uzbekistan as one of the developing and progressing countries. This is important both from a personal perspective and, above all, as a huge motivation for all Uzbek chess players.

If one of us becomes the first Uzbek player to win the classical world chess crown and bring it to Uzbekistan, that will certainly make Uzbekistan the number one country in chess!”

Nodirbek Abdusattorov and Javokhir Sindarov are World’s No. 4 and No. 5 respectively. They played together on the Uzbekistan team at the 2022 and 2024 Olympiads and will play at the 2026 Olympiad. Nodirbek and Javokhir will play together at the FIDE World Team Rapid and Blitz Chess Championships 2026 in June.

The FIDE World Championship 2026 is the crowning match to determine the World Champion. Match features defending Champion Gukesh Dommaraju and Javokhir Sindarov, the winner of the FIDE Candidates Tournament 2026. The location and date of the match will be announced by FIDE later this year.
