14-year-old Indian WCM Modipalli Deekshitha rose to first place in the Girls’ Junior live rating on August 6. Modipalli gained +312.8 Classical rating points and climbed 482 positions in the Women’s rankings over her last two tournaments.

Modipalli played at the 14th Ciudad de Pontevedra Masters and the Leca Chess Open from late July to early August. In the first tournament, she won 3 games, drew 5 times and lost once. In the second tournament, Deekshitha won 4 games, drew once, and lost 4 games.

On average, Modipalli gained +34.2 points per win and +16.5 per draw. She lost an average of −5.1 points per defeat. Deekshitha climbed to 17th place in the Women’s rankings, surpassing GMs Harika Dronavalli, Mariya Muzychuk, Nino Batsiashvili, and others.
