The Russian Chess Federation revoked GM Vladimir Fedoseev’s national Master of Sport and Grandmaster titles. The decision cites Fedoseev’s 2022 statement that he would no longer play for the Russian national team. RCF executive director Alexander Tkachev stated the remarks discredited Russia.

“You can’t disparage your teachers or your homeland, thanks to which you became a grandmaster and achieved everything …You’re simply unworthy of them after such statements”

Russian born GM Vladimir Fedoseev (2705), became Grandmaster in 2011. His most notable wins are 2024 European Rapid and Chess960 championships. Since the Russian-Ukranian conflict he fled Russia, and is representing Slovenia since 2023.
