News publisher“Niemann is not a regular participant in the Grand Chess Tour, he will miss the next event — the Super Chess Classic in Bucharest. The main question now is whether he will receive a wild card for the Sinquefield Cup 2026, which takes place in late August…
Three years ago, Niemann destroyed his hotel room after a loss at the U.S. Championship and was suspended by the Saint Louis Chess Club. However, he participated in the 2024 and 2025 U.S. Championships held at that club without any incidents and now looks like an obvious candidate for a wild card.
Maybe the final decision on the Sinquefield Cup 2026 will be made by St. Louis patron Rex Sinquefield, who is known for making wise decisions.”
American GM Hans Moke Niemann was suspended from the Saint Louis Chess Club due to inappropriate behavior and property damage in 2023. The decision was based on Niemann causing physical damage to his hotel room, including breaking a lamp, television remotes, and a glass frame.
Hans Moke Niemann won the Grand Chess Tour Super Rapid & Blitz Poland 2026 held from May 5 to 10. Hans is competing in the Grand Chess Tour for the first time. Niemann is not a participant in other tour events.
