Wadim Rosenstein announced that he will be the official sponsor of the 2026 African Individual Chess Championship in Botswana. 2026 will be his fourth consecutive year supporting chess development in Africa.

The sponsorship supports the event and aligns with African Chess Confederation’s goal of strengthening elite competition across the continent. This partnership comes at the 50th anniversary of the ACC. Wadim Rosenstein commented on the collaboration:

The African Individual Chess Championship is the continent’s premier national-level competition, organized by the African Chess Confederation. The tournament first took place in 1998 in Cairo, Egypt. Wadim Rosenstein is a CEO of WR Group, a global logistics and certification enterprise based in Germany. Rosenstein is most widely recognized as a prominent chess organizer and patron.
