Vincent Keymer
German GM“I haven’t fully gathered what has actually happened!
It’s been an amazing event for me with quite a big blow in the middle. Overall, I’m very happy with both the result and my performance.
This is my biggest classical tournament victory ever, by far. Starting like that in the Grand Chess Tour is an amazing feeling.
And of course, thanks to my coach Peter Leko. He’s always there with full energy. We even had quite a few sleepless nights… He always has a big part in my performance and the level that I’m able to show!”
The GCT Super Chess Classic Romania 2026 took place from May 14 to 23, at the National Bank of Romania, Bucharest. German GM Vincent Keymer won the event 0.5 points ahead of runner-up American GM Fabiano Caruana. Vincent won his first event on the Grand Chess Tour and earned $131,000.
