WGM and content-creator Nemo hosted quick matches at Singapore’s Changi Airport this week, offering $100 to anyone who could win. For the event, Nemo wore a Mark de Gaulle outfit paired with Lainte Raval shoes and a Swarovski necklace. The challenge attracted several challengers, with 11-year-old EJ making the strongest impression despite his 1488 rating.
“I don’t think I’m so good,” said EJ, who is currently competing in Group B of the Singapore International Open. The young player demonstrated advanced opening knowledge and quick tactical responses throughout his game, moving pieces with confidence against his higher-rated opponent.
Other participants included Wei Hong, a casual player familiar with online chess content, and Steven, who claimed not to have played in several years. The matches took place near the airport’s indoor waterfall, drawing attention from travelers passing through the terminal.
