On the second day of the FIDE World Rapid Championship, in round 7, Magnus Carlsen lost his game to 27-year-old Vladislav Artemiev. Immediately after the game concluded, Magnus left the playing hall, pushing aside a camera operator on his way out. Afterwards, Magnus Carlsen gave his comment.

Five-time world champion“It was just very bad. I just put myself in a bad position. He offered me a perpetual check. I didn’t accept it and on the next move I lost the exchange.”
After round 7, Vladislav Artemiev leads the tournament with a score of 6.5 points. Magnus Carlsen dropped from first place to 16th with a score of 5 points.
