Journalist and former FIDE Executive David Llada shared information about a new event, the MOVE Cup. Llada announced that Magnus Carlsen will attend the launch of the event in Barcelona on October 20.

The MOVE Cup is a new elite chess tournament for the world’s best Grandmasters. The competition aims to be held regularly, have a strong prize fund, and be spectator-friendly. The inaugural edition of the event is scheduled to run from January 18 to 20. The Cup will open with a charity event where the top players will face donors and celebrities.

The launch of the event will take place at The Library at the Cotton House Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes. The press conference will be followed by a Q&A with Carlsen and BETBY’s CEO and co-founder Leonid Pertsovskiy.

The MOVE Cup is the first event organized by the MOVE Foundation. The event is powered by sportsbook BETBY. More details about the event will be revealed at the press conference.
