Vladislav Artemiev shared his opinion on the FIDE World Championship 2026. Artemiev believes that the current match format is too long, and notes Javokhir Sindarov as the favorite.

“I believe the match in its current form isn’t particularly interesting to a wide audience. Changes have been needed for a long time. A three-week match is too long in this day and age.

I believe that Javokhir Sindarov is the favorite, chances about 60 to 40. At the same time, the match has its own specifics, much will depend on the form and condition of the reigning Champion.”

The FIDE World Championship 2026 is the crowning match to determine the World Champion. Match features defending Champion Gukesh Dommaraju and Uzbek GM Javokhir Sindarov, the winner of the FIDE Candidates Tournament 2026. The match will take place in Geneva, Switzerland from November 25 to December 15.
