Daniil Dubov spoke about his role in the FYERS American Gambits team at the Global Chess League 2026. Dubov says that he is responsible for the team atmosphere, and notes that he tries to keep the team both serious and relaxed.

“It’s probably hard to believe but I’m actually the oldest in the team.

I’m, in a way, responsible for the team atmosphere and for the people to behave nicely and all of that. If you like our team, I think I’m doing this part of the job quite well actually.

Srinath Narayanan and myself, we are actually trying to keep them both serious and relaxed, I think it works. But generally, when I like someone, I’m normally cheerful.”

The Tech Mahindra Global Chess League 2026 takes place from September 5 to 13 in Bengaluru, India. 30-year-old Daniil Dubov’s FYERS American Gambits is in third place after 7 days. 20-year-old Javokhir Sindarov is the captain and the youngest player on the team.
