“I have left the cheating accusations behind me. I feel I have become mentally stronger. But, of course, the damage done to my career is still felt. Whether it will last forever — time will tell.

I never cheated over the board. That is now irrefutably proven. And as for online chess — people who actually studied the Chess.com report carefully understand that all the accusations against me were baseless.

Of course, the years of accusations were difficult for me. It was very hard for me back then. I’m sure most players in my place would have simply quit chess. But even in those dark days, I maintained an unshakable belief that there was light at the end of the tunnel ahead. And perhaps that is the most valuable gift I received in my childhood.”

American GM Hans Moke Niemann (2725) cheating accusation was a major 2022 scandal where Magnus Carlsen accused Hans of cheating after Niemann defeated him in an over-the-board game. In October 2022, Chess.com released a 72-page report stating that “Niemann has likely cheated in more than 100 online chess games”. To this day, no evidence of over-the-board or in-person cheating has been recorded.
