His rate of progress is unprecedented. I am curious to see whether he will plateau around the same level as other top players, just earlier, or whether he will take it a step further and dominate.”

Turkish GM Yagiz Kaan Erdogmus reached the 2700 mark by defeating Veselin Topalov in a 1-1 match in April. Erdogmus became the youngest player to achieve a rating of 2700+ in history, at the age of 14 years and 10 months old. Yagiz ranks 17th in the world with a rating of 2731.1. Erdogmus is 21 points higher than reigning World Champion Gukesh Dommaraju.
