Vaishali Rameshbabu (2481) secured her place in the fourth round of the FIDE Women’s World Championship 2025 after defeating Carissa Yip (2431) 2-4 in tiebreaks following a dramatic comeback from losing positions in both rapid games during the third round eliminations in Batumi.

GM Vaishali Rameshbabu
Today, in the first 15 plus 10 position, both games. I was completely lost. Especially in the first game, I was like two, three points down. But both of us were in time trouble. Just kept playing and she just blundered this B5 pawn, like just flip on and… Somehow I managed to hold.
The FIDE Women’s World Cup 2025 takes place in Batumi, Georgia from Jul 5 to Jul 29. 107 players compete for the $676K prize pool in the single-elimination knockout format with 90/40+30+30s time control.
