Streamer and WFM Anna Cramling spoke about her negative experience with stalking on Twitch on March 8. Cramling notes that she often receives negative and inappropriate messages, points out that this problem is more serious than it seems, and cites an example of a stalker who threatened her during the 45th Chess Olympiad in 2024.

“I on a constant basis have stalkers — I have people that are obsessed with me. Gosh, I even have people that feel entitled to me. I have those who messaged me, who threatened me.

There are many times that something like that happened, but I don’t talk about it because I don’t want to give this person a platform. I don’t want to encourage more people to do this by speaking about it. I mean, if I pretend that nothing is wrong — then nothing is wrong.

But this is… Reality! For example, when I was in the Chess Olympiad 2024, I had a man who kept on messaging me and telling me that he knew my hotel, he knew where I was staying and he was going to come and kill me! And this guy was messaging me all the time, even to the point where I had to go to the reception and say: ‘Please! If someone with this name checks in — don’t let them!’

I was terrified by that. I was even considering dropping out of the Olympiad because of this…

And that happens way more often than you might think. This happens quite often… And that’s really upsetting. I feel really bad after such things.”
