Hikaru Nakamura
World's No. 3, streamer“The match was being held in Florida, and I have been commuting every day.
In the morning, I get up, I drive down to Miami, which is about 45 minutes away, and then I come home. According to Google, something like 140 million Americans do that. So, for the last couple of days, I actually been doing a cosplay of someone who goes to work like a regular person.
The good silver lining about this game against Abdusattorov as well as the game against Sindarov are that, with me commuting, with me being very busy with all the things that are going on, I simply get unprepared. I wasn’t ready for this variation and I lost the game because of the lack of preparation.
The silver lining is that luckily this is happening in this event, hopefully only this event. With the Esports World Cup coming up in about a week, this is a very clear and present sign that I need to be a little bit more serious and more prepared for that event.”
The USA vs. Uzbekistan: WR Chess Rapid & Blitz Miami 2026 took place from July 27 to 28, at the Faena Hotel Miami Beach, Florida, USA. Team USA defeated Team Uzbekistan with a total score of 14-10. During the event Hikaru Nakamura lost 10.1 points in Blitz and his rating dropped to 2799.1.
