Hikaru Nakamura shared his opinion on online events. Nakamura believes that there are not enough online tournaments at the moment, and notes that the situation is unlikely to change.

I think that there is a lack of online events. I don’t think that’s going to change…

I don’t think the landscape is fantastic at the moment.”

In 2025 and 2026, four major online events took place, including the Speed Chess Championship 2025-26, Champions Chess Tour 2025, Chess.com Open 2026, and Bullet Chess Championship 2026. Chess.com hosts weekly Titled Tuesdays and 3 0 Thursdays, and Lichess.org runs Titled Arenas twice per month.
