Dutch GM Anish Giri commented on his draw against German GM Vincent Keymer in round 5 of the GCT Super Chess Classic Romania 2026. Giri reflects on his performance, and notes that he lost control during the game.

“I was wondering, why do they always call me here after I play a bad game? Then I realized, maybe I always play bad games…

I played very, very bad. The position looked amazing… And then I completely lost the plot!”

The GCT Super Chess Classic Romania 2026 takes place from May 14 to 23, at the National Bank of Romania, Bucharest. Dutch GM Anish Giri shares 2nd place with his compatriot GM Jorden van Foreest after 5 rounds.
