Javokhir Sindarov commented on Team Uzbekistan’s victory at the Chess Olympiad 2026. Sindarov says that he is proud of his team, and notes that he’s pleased to win on home soil. Javokhir spoke about it in an interview with Chess24.

“Finally, we won. I won my second Olympiad before I turned 21, so I’m very happy!

I’m very proud of my team, we did a great job here and beat every strong opponent. I think we played the tournament really well, and I’m very happy with our result.

[Question: This win was in front of the home crowd. Is it even sweeter than the first win?]

Of course, to win at home, in front of your parents, the president, and everyone is always good. And I’m very happy with this result.

The Chess Olympiad 2026 took place from September 16 to 27 in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. Team Uzbekistan won the tournament with 20 points and a 2-point lead. Uzbekistan won the Chess Olympiad for the second time in history.
