Arkady Dvorkovich stated that he withdraws from FIDE Presidential election 2026. Dvorkovich points to possible risks for FIDE, and shares his opinion on candidate Kirsan Ilyumzhinov.

“Unfortunately, I will not participate in the FIDE presidential election, as this could create risks for the organization.

I will definitely not support Kirsan Ilyumzhinov in the FIDE presidential election, as I do not share his positions.”

Arkady Dvorkovich was suspended from the position of FIDE President on July 24. Dvorkovich was included in the European Union sanctions list as part of the 21st package of restrictions against Russia. Presidential duties temporarily transfer to Deputy President Viswanathan Anand.
