Azerbaijani GM Vasif Durarbayli announced a match between Daniil Dubov and untitled club player Josh Smith. The match will take place online on Chess.com on November 7.

The match will consist of 100 Bullet games with 1+0 time control. The prize fund for the match is $20,000, with $10,000 as a starting fee for Dubov. If Daniil wins 100-0, he will get a $10,000 sweep bonus.

In early July, Vasif Durarbayli shared on X about a situation at the Naroditsky Memorial 2026. A chess fan, Josh Smith, approached him and proposed the idea of a Bullet match against an elite grandmaster. On July 21, Durarbayli suggested that his post helped make the match happen.
