Cuban GM Jesus Nogueiras has reported a problem with his food provision. Nogueiras says the place where he should receive daily meals cut him off. The reason was the lack of coordination between the institutions responsible for his provision.
Nogueiras explained that Cuba’s National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (INDER) allowed him to eat at a restaurant in Santa Clara. The agreement was not properly formalized and monitored, resulting in the restaurant stopping providing him with meals.
Nogueiras noted that in the best years of his career, he donated $30,000 to the Cuban state. He claims he is currently experiencing difficulties getting his daily meal.
66-year-old Jesus Nogueiras Santiago is a prominent Cuban Grandmaster. He achieved the GM title in 1979 and became Cuban Champion five times.
