Take Take Take relaunched its app as a free play & learn chess platform based on Lichess.org on April 6. CEO of Take Take Take Mats Andre Kristiansen spoke about the warning from CEO of Chess.com Erik Allebest and the consequences of the relaunch.
Mats Andre Kristiansen
CEO of Take Take Take“I remember I met Erik and Dani at Chess.com for the very first time… And I remember very clearly — Erik told me that I could never enter their domain of play and learn. It was okay for me to build Take Take Take around the fan experience and the watch zone, but as soon as we entered play and learn, there would be a conflict.
And the conflict is really about Magnus being an ambassador to Chess.com. And the consequences of this conflict are that we cannot have Magnus actively promote Take Take Take as we are now direct competitors.”
Co-founder Magnus Carlsen is not promoting the rebranding at launch and remains a shareholder in the company.
The new Take Take Take app offers matchmaking in Classical Chess and Chess 960 with Blitz and Rapid time controls. Sections launched include Feed — activity and news, Challenges, Clubs, and Statistics. The platform uses Lichess.org as the infrastructure. The mobile version of the app is available for iOS and Android.
Take Take Take is a social chess app co-founded by Magnus Carlsen and Mats Andre Kristiansen, launched in October 2024. The platform focused on Live Tournament Coverage, Community Feed, and AI-Powered Coaching, before the rebrand.
