Vladimir Kramnik submitted an appeal against the decision on disciplinary proceedings from the FIDE Ethics & Disciplinary Commission (EDC). Kramnik requested the EDC Appeal Chamber to fulfill three demands:

  • To annul the Decision of the First Instance Chamber in its entirety
  • To declare that the proceedings were fundamentally flawed due to systemic and repeated procedural violations
  • In the alternative, to set aside the findings and sanctions on the merits

EDC has issued its decision on disciplinary proceedings against Vladimir Kramnik on July 3rd. EDC found Kramnik responsible for multiple violations of the FIDE Code of Ethics and the Disciplinary Code. Kramnik was found guilty of bullying and cyberbullying, violation of the right to dignity and respectful treatment, psychological abuse, false or unjustified public accusations, and other offences.

In November 2025, the FIDE Management Board and the FIDE Fair Play Commission filed a complaint against Vladimir Kramnik with the EDC. The subject of the complaint was a series of public statements and social media posts made by Kramnik about Daniel Naroditsky, David Navara, and other players. Disciplinary proceedings began on the day the complaint was filed and lasted 7 months and 22 days.
