Alireza Firouzja eliminated Nodirbek Abdusattorov from the Esports World Cup 2025 quarterfinals with a 3-1 victory.
NAVI Abdusattorov controlled the fourth game until his rook blunder allowed team Falcons Firouzja to secure the match victory. The Natus Vincere player had qualified for the quarterfinals through the lower bracket after defeating Fabiano Caruana and Jan-Krzysztof Duda.
The Esports World Cup 2025 takes place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from July 29 to August 1. The tournament features 16 players competing for a $1.5 million prize pool with 10+0 rapid time control. Firouzja advances to the semifinals where he will compete for the $250,000 first prize.
